My name is
Saoirse Byrne

I have worked as a photographer and videographer since 2019, initially focusing on filmmaking. I was Director of Photography on a number of short films which played internationally across the festival circuit; I worked with the BFI and National Film and Television School as part of their Film Academy programme; I also took part in a BAFTA mentorship scheme and received film funding from the Roundhouse. Alongside this work, I studied photography and filmmaking at Ravensbourne University.

As I began to take more interest in rugby, so did my photo and video work. I have now photographed for a wide range of different teams and sports, including rugby, lacrosse, football, and ultimate frisbee. To be a good sports photographer, you need to have a strong understanding and passion for the sport you are photographing; my sporting interests range from American football and basketball to boxing and athletics, and it is this passion for such a wide range of sports that makes me an effective photographer.

My approach
Energy. Fire. Passion for the game.
